Yesterday was a very sad day as we said bye to the MR2. The main reasons for selling was it was starting to become a money pit (had more problems that required work) and the running costs were very high; therefore Will and I decided it was better to sell it to MR2 Ben (the breaker/repairs guy we got parts from) and get whatever he would pay for it along with getting back half the insurance money. So we drove it over yesterday had a chat and he took it for £200 which we were fairly happy with, something is better than nothing! We then got over £600 back from the insurance which is pretty good; this also meant that we actually got more back than we would have expected at the end of the year if we had sold it (would only expect to sell for £750 max if we were lucky). SO this is it, the last MR2 post! The weather was lovely on the way there so we got to put the top down which is always good, especially for the last drive. Now we just have to wait for all the payments/refunds to come through.
I also drove over to Leeds yesterday to get the documents as we hadn’t brought them home as we were not originally planning on selling. It which was a lovely drive with remarkably little traffic; so I will head into Ben’s to fill out the V5 on Monday and sort the rest out. While I was in Leeds I saw that they had replaced my broken bed with a brand new metal from so I will give an update on that when I am back over there next weekend.
As sad as this may be it also means that I am now more likely to get a new car in April when the Polo’s insurance runs out, rather than July, and at the moment I am looking at possibly getting a Toyota Celica:
Here are the pictures from yesterday:

Apparently this one was being completely overhauled and rebuilt! I must say I was curious about the boot lid as I have never seen an MR2 boot with a little duck tail before.
My Polo doesn’t look too good when sat next to this… It was the only MR2 there without a T-bar roof out of five.
One of Ben’s MR2s, it is just amazing!
