Weekend Update

Quite a few parts to this update starting from last Thursday so here goes:

So last Thursday was Nick and Tom‘s Birthday party which we started at theirs for pre-drinks and then proceeded on to Mission for Full Moon. It was super nice to see everyone from halls last year as I now live miles away so never see many of them anymore and if I do it is normally only for a few seconds to say ‘hi’ when we bump into each other walking to or from lectures. Mission was entertaining to say the least and we ended up at the after party in Fibre which usually means it has been a somewhat good night. So here are decent pictures, there were a lot more but as you may expect they weren’t the best quality…

And for some reason I liked taking pictures of empty places…

Also found this picture which has come out really odd but I quite like the effect:

I eventually got back to my flat at 5:30 and still managed to make it into my 10am lecture which I was quite proud of! After lectures i then had to wait until I was sober enough to drive back, I had a 0.5% BAC when I and that was reducing so I wasn’t too worried, when I had tested myself before lectures it had just come up with ‘High, DON’T DRIVE’.

The drive home:

I am always happy when I get the exact about fuel for the cash I have.

So I was heading home this weekend to have an early birthday meal with my family for my mum’s birthday and also to watch my cousin Dom do a tuba solo as a guest with the Port Sunlight Orchestra which was surprisingly interesting and good. The rest of the time I just relaxed and chatted to my mum about my car plans as well as sorting out what my brother wants for his 16th, more of that to follow.

Car Plans

My Polo insurance runs out in April and my plan was to replace it with a coupe, most likely a Hyundai Coupe but preferably a Toyota Celica so I had a chat to my mum and we came to a different arrangement; I will get insured on the Audi A1 when my insurance on the Polo expires and I can then sell the Polo and put the money into my savings and she will use her MX5 MK2. Then when the new MX5 MK4 is released in the summer she would trade her old one in for a brand new model which will be awesome!

Brother’s Birthday

My brother has been asking for ages to get a gaming PC and my parents have finally agreed to get him one as his birthday present so we had a chat about what he wanted and started putting a list together with help from one of his friends who has already built his own and from Will who has also built one too. So here is the spec for what we have so far, it is about £1000 so it may need to be reworked to be a little cheaper.

In doing this I go side tracked in making a list for my own PC build that I really want to do now, however have nowhere near the funds as it is currently looking at over £1500 if I build the full system. I have designed to my preferences of loads of memory for all my music and GoPro footage, lots of Ram for SolidWorks and the like, SSDs for the OS and other highly used programs and then just general high speed usage and film watching.

But put it this way, I spent a little too much time on PC Part Picker rather than revising for the Mechatronics test today which surprisingly went fine and I believe I got 80%.

And finally a few videos to watch from the skiing world:

And now I am just getting ready to head out to the Snowriders Reggae Social at HiFi tonight!

Also, did you know that Leeds council grit the pavements using quad bikes! (You learn something new every day…when you’re up at ridiculous hours drunk)
