Day 5 – Avalanche Bombs!

First off, the highlight of today (and the title) was watching a helicopter move along a ridge opposite the hotel dropping avalanche bombs that then exploded a few minutes later with a huge sound delay (5 to 6 seconds)! They were removing loads of loose snow and a few cornices across a ridge above some of the slopes. And of course I took pictures:

There was also an object of the ridge but we couldn’t work out what it was…

They are building a new lift as I mentioned before and had a machine chipping away at some rock in a very precarious position:

And that is it for big events, had a lovely day skiing with my family and then Sophie again (Katie wasn’t feeling too good); had a nice relaxing afternoon in the sun and ended up with burnt arms but all in all it isn’t too bad.
